Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is a public central university in New Delhi, the capital of India. It is a world-renewed center for reaching and teaching and foremost university in India. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council gave the university a grade of 3.91 out of 4, the highest grade awarded to any educational institution in the country. It ranks third according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework. It is known for leading faculties and research emphasis on liberal arts and applied sciences. Jawaharlal Nehru University has collaborated with universities across the world in research projects, conferences, and publications.
Within the university, the unit involved to the project is the School of Environmental Sciences (SES). It was established in 1974. The School has diversified interest in various earth, atmospheric and biological processes. Linkages between ecological and social processes give an additional dimension to School's interest, making the work relevant. Therefore, the curriculum has components of disciplinary areas such as physical sciences, earth and atmospheric sciences, environmental biology, and environmental monitoring and management. With such a high level of diverse research interests, over 28 faculty members offer PhD (doctoral research program), M.Phil (pre-doctoral research program) and MSc (graduate studies). The school has proven its supremacy by its outstanding research publications; national and international research collaborations and placement of successful students in prestigious organizations of India and abroad.
